The Chancellor, Board of Trustees, and community are looking for a president who embodies unifying, effective, and inclusive leadership for this vibrant, multifaceted institution. The ideal candidate will bring transparent and trustworthy leadership, skilled management of resources and talent, and the courage to make collaborative, equity-centered decisions. They will champion the college's equity-centered mission, advocate for students and the college, and be a visible, engaged presence on campus and in the broader community.

 


Minimum and Desirable Qualifications

  1. All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices
  2. Earned master's degree from a regionally accredited institution
  3. Five (5) years of administrative experience in education, business, industry or government, including three (3) years at the senior executive level

  1. Earned doctorate from an accredited higher education institution.
  2. Higher education administrative experience, preferably within the California Community College system.

 


Salary and Benefits

State Center Community College District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, sick leave, vacation benefits and the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) or Public Employee Retirement System (CalPERS). The starting annual salary is $259,397-$280,781 dependent upon experience and qualifications.

Key Priorities for the Next President

Constituents identified major areas of focus for the president to foster a transparent, equitable, and student-centered environment at Fresno City College that also empowers employees and promotes healthy accountability and positive progress.

  1. Build Transparency and Trust in Decision-Making and Budget Allocation

    Encourage open communication about governance decisions and budget allocations to rebuild trust, boost morale, and foster transparency. Promote accountability by engaging faculty, staff, and students in decision-making, leveraging diverse perspectives to drive positive change.

  2. Revitalize Campus Culture and Sense of Community 

    Foster a more supportive environment for faculty, staff, and students by rebuilding community, improving morale, and eliminating divides between departments and sites to create a positive workplace where employees feel valued and engaged beyond their roles.

  3. Increase Student Success and Community Alignment

    Align college priorities with the unique needs of the Fresno area by engaging local community groups and collaborating with K-12 and higher education institutions to enhance pathways, support services, and outcomes for all student demographics.

  4. Strengthen Shared Governance and Faculty/Staff Engagement

    Cultivate a culture that respects and values the voices of faculty and staff to support shared governance. Address concerns about micromanagement and foster an environment where faculty and staff have the autonomy and respect necessary to serve students effectively.

  5. Invest in Staffing, Technology, and Infrastructure

    Tackle urgent staffing needs in key support areas, along with enhancing technology and facility infrastructure, to better support students and ensure a functional, resilient institution.

  6. Empower Student-Centered, Bottom-Up Solutions

    Address long-standing issues by implementing clearer, more efficient processes that encourage faculty- and staff-led solutions while minimizing administrative burdens. Promote student-centric approaches through employee engagement and development to foster creativity and innovation.

  7. Enhance Student Support through Guided Pathways and Essential Services

    Expand critical services, such as food assistance and digital access, along with student support programs to enhance retention and success rates. Prioritize initiatives like Guided Pathways to offer clear academic routes and improve awareness of student support resources.
