Scholarships
The State Center Community College Foundation (SCCC Foundation) provides scholarship grants to the students of Fresno City College, Clovis Community College, Reedley College, Madera Community College and Madera Community College at Oakhurst, to enable the recipients to complete an undergraduate education in the field of their choice at the college of their choice.
Thanks to the generosity of people, businesses and community organizations, SCCC Foundation is able to award over a half-million dollars in scholarships each year to students attending our colleges within the District. Scholarships are one of the most direct ways to support student success. Scholarships help recognize a student’s outstanding performance and financially assists them in pursuing their educational goals.
Types of Scholarships
SCCC Foundation offers two types of scholarships:
- Annual Scholarship – Established with a donation of $250 or more and funded on a yearly basis
- Endowed Scholarship – Established with a donation of $10,000 or more. These funds are deposited into an investment account and the interest earned funds scholarships to students in perpetuity.

Establishing a Scholarship
There are two simple steps to establishing a scholarship with the Foundation after you have chosen the type of scholarship you want to establish:
- Fill out the Scholarship Information Form (SIF) to create scholarship criteria
- Fund scholarship
Our team will walk you through the criteria process when setting up your scholarship.
Scholarship criteria must be objective and non-discriminatory basis: Within the charitable class identified, the IRS requires that the ultimate recipients of scholarship grants be selected on an “objective and non-discriminatory” basis. Some factors that are often considered are financial need, academic performance/merit, performance on standardized tests, community involvement or extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, and personal interviews. Benefits of Establishing a Scholarship
- Naming the scholarship in honor or memory of a loved one.
- Involvement in the development of the criteria for the scholarship.
- Serving a member of a scholarship committee in selecting the scholarship recipient.
- An opportunity to meet the scholarship recipient(s).
Ways to Fund Scholarship
Donations can be given in a number of ways: cash, stock, real property, through donor-advised funds, memorials, planned gifts, such as, bequests/wills, IRA rollovers, charitable trusts, etc.
