Located along Blackstone Avenue, the new science building will serve as a new front door to Fresno City College. Through an extensive FCC led planning process, it was determined that due to changes in pedagogy, that a new science building would improve instructional capabilities and the student experience. The new building will feature modern labs across several science disciplines and will also house flexible student study areas. The existing science facility is nearing the end of its useful life cycle and requires major modernization.
The new science building will expand the existing science building, which was constructed in 1973. The existing science building is planned to be modernized after the new science building is constructed and occupied.
The District prequalified five general contractors to bid on this project with bids due January 13, 2022. Harris Construction Co., Inc. was the sole bidder. The Board of Trustees awarded Harris the contract on February 2, 2022. The project started construction in March 2022.
As of Spring semester 2025, the building is open for classes and staff.
A ribbon cutting is tentatively scheduled for March 28, 2025. More information is forthcoming.
