Chancellor’s Message Regarding Honoring the Nashville Victims
Colleagues,
This morning President Biden ordered that all flags be flown at half-staff until March 31, 2023 “as a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on March 27, 2023, in Nashville.”
Yesterday’s tragedy at The Covenant School was the 130th mass shooting in the United States and the 13th school shooting in 2023.
As our students will be going into spring break next week, they are looking at the next six weeks as a stressful sprint to the finish. Please be aware of the added pressure our students feel and remember that we have resources for them throughout our district at each college. Please contact your student services support colleagues directly or enter a flag in our Starfish system if you have a specific concern about a student.
The district’s Employee Assistance Program is available to all faculty and staff that may need additional support.
