Open Educational Resource Funding
The Board of Trustees reallocated $1m for a program to vastly lower State Center's students’ textbook costs. Called the Open Education Resources Initiative (OERI), each college has applied for up to $200,000 this year to support faculty development of low-to-no cost textbook options for students by course, program, certificate, and even degree.
Through this program, the district intends to implement both existing open resources already available to California community college faculty, as well as new materials where necessary or where existing no—cost materials are available.
