Chancellor's Remarks Respectful Treatment of All Persons Resolution

Dec 17, 2024

This resolution underscores the importance of equitable treatment, the protection of gender identity and expression, and continued support for undocumented students, families, and staff.

The SCCCD Board of Trustees has long recognized the value of diversity and the importance of policies that advance equity and inclusion. Undocumented students, families, and staff enrich our campuses while facing unique challenges. To address these needs, SCCCD has established Dream Resource Centers, providing essential resources. This resolution calls for the reactivation of the 'Know Your Rights Campaign' and advocates for increased state funding to further enhance the services provided by these centers.

Furthermore, this resolution reaffirms SCCCD’s leadership in creating safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments for all students, faculty, and staff—aligning with the California Values Act (SB54) and SCCCD's enduring commitment to equity and diversity.

Lastly, Special thanks to the Human Rights Coalinga of the Central Valley, especially Jim Grant and Dr. Kapoor for their assistance with this, and the other resolutions.  Also I am grateful for Paul Gilmore, Lee Herrick and Monique Reyna for their time in reviewing these resolutions and for their collaborative efforts at the Fresno City College Social Justice Center.
