Message From Chancellor Goldsmith on Immigration Resources
Dear Staff and Students,
We recognize that immigration policies may cause concern and uncertainty for many in our community. We want you to know that you are not alone. No matter what challenges arise, we are committed to standing by you and ensuring that our colleges remain a place of safety, support, and opportunity for every student. You belong here.
To help provide clarity and guidance, we launched a webpage with important information about immigration rights, including what immigration officials can and cannot do, where to find legal resources, and steps you can take to protect yourself and your loved ones. Our goal is to empower you with knowledge and connect you to trusted resources.
The site also features guidance for how we respond should immigration or outside law enforcement inquire about the immigration status of students or employees. You can immediately download helpful tools from the “print materials” dropdown on the webpage.
We are also printing handy cards and posters that will be distributed districtwide. Each college website also will host similar resources and information for staff and students.
We understand the weight of these concerns, and we want to assure you that our commitment to you does not change—regardless of your immigration status. SCCCD provides safe spaces for learning, growth, and community, and we will continue to advocate for your rights, dignity, and future.
Please visit our Immigration Resources webpage for more information, and do not hesitate to reach out if you need support. We are here for you.
With care and commitment,
Carole Goldsmith
Chancellor
