Research & Institutional Effectiveness

Welcome

The Research & Institutional Effectiveness (RIE) Office operates within the purview of the Vice Chancellor of Educational Services and Institutional Effectiveness, Dr. Robert Frost, at State Center Community College District.

RIE engages in a range of research activities, which include:

  1. Mandatory reporting (State and Federal) and Accreditation, including grant reports and data support.
  2. Strategic planning, including development, implementation, evaluation, analytics, and program development support, fostering informed decision-making within the Chancellery.
  3. Annual programmatic evaluations (program review and learning outcomes), KPI reports, and surveys.
  4. Internal ad hoc requests.
  5. Data collection.
  6. Survey Design.
  7. Development, expansion, and maintenance of academic program databases.
  8. Support towards data integration and participation in university ERP planning.
  9. Collaboration with institutional researchers at all State Center colleges.
  10. External ad hoc requests approved by the Office of the Vice Chancellor.

Mission Statement

RIE provides data analysis and reporting for institutions, working closely with college partners in the State Center Community College District to support operations. We conduct research to understand student, college, and system performance, addressing disparities among different student groups and regions. Our innovative and inclusive approaches generate practical insights for evidence-based decision-making, supporting continuous improvement towards the Vision for Success goals.

RIE at State Center adheres to the Code of Ethics Standards established by the Research and Planning Group for Community Colleges (RP Group). These standards are guided by four fundamental principles:
