Earthquakes
- If indoors, stay there. Get under a desk or table or stand in a corner.
- If outdoors, get into an open area away from trees, buildings, walls and power lines.
- If driving, pull over to the side of the road and stop. Avoid overpasses and power lines. Stay inside until the shaking is over.
- If in a multi-story building, stay away from windows and outside walls. Get under a table. Do not use elevators.
- If in a crowed public place, do not rush for the doors. Move away from display shelves containing objects that could fall.
- After the shock subsides, get out of doors and well away from the building.
- Follow the procedures in the Guide for fire, hazardous material leaks, and serious injuries if necessary.
- In the event of major damage or disruption, the District Police Department will announce and implement evacuation of the campus.
- Identify and assist the injured.
- Call the District Police Department, extension 5911 (559 244-5911 for 24 hour service), to report any serious hazards or injuries.
- Do not return to an evacuated building until it has been cleared by structural engineers and public safety personnel.
