Academic Village 2
Project Status
Architect: Darden Architects
Contractor: BMY Construction, Inc.
In order to meet the additional needs and growth of Madera Community College (MCC), expansion of the Academic Village is required. The new Academic Village 2 building is planned to house general education classrooms, distance learning classrooms, a student success center, an expanded library, and labs for nursing, computers, and criminology. Plans also include expanded parking on the west side of campus.
Groundbreaking occurred in May 2021. As of November 2022, BMY Construction Inc., is progressing on the project smoothly. The building exterior is shaping up nicely with installation of metal and ACM panels, stucco, paint, and storefront glass. Work continues inside the building with the installation of electrical devices, telecom equipment, flooring, lighting, and ceiling tile. The access road is complete.
BMY Construction Inc., is progressing on the project smoothly but did have a few minor supply chain issues which has delayed the final completion by a few weeks, but the building is nearly complete. Installation of flooring and baseboard continues now that supplies have arrived, and work continues with landscaping installation and clean up, final touches to the low voltage system, and general punch list items. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on December 8, 2022. Furniture delivery and installation occurred in Spring 2023 and classes started in Fall 2023.
